FERRUCCIO FURLANETTO

Since the very early 80s when I met Jeffrey on the occasion of my first Faust in the United States, he became a very important figure in my musical and vocal study. During these past 35 years I have deepened so many roles with Jeffrey, whose competence and reliability are fundamental. It is so important, even for an established singer, to have a professional like Jeffrey and to trust totally his advice and opinions. I know exactly the internal feelings that I need to have in order to produce the sound, the color, the intentions that I want. What is needed in a singer’s vocal life is an external ear that can confirm if our efforts are hitting the target. For this reason it is so important to have someone like Jeffrey whose knowledge, experience, and ability to communicate are truly splendid. It also goes without saying that I have received enormous help from him linguistically, both in French and German.

GIUSEPPE MENTUCCIA

PIANIST AND CONDUCTOR, THE LINDEMANN YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM AT THE METROPOLITAN OPERA

Jeffrey Goldberg is an extraordinary musician, with a great knowledge of the repertoire and a special sensitivity to vocal technique. His concept of technique is rooted in the great tradition of the past, and his passion in sharing it with young musicians is truly engaging. After sitting in his lessons I gained a deeper knowledge of what makes a difference in singing on a big stage, and how these ideas can be successfully applied to the operatic repertoire.

MICHELLE BRADLEY

SOPRANO, THE LINDEMANN YOUNG ARTIST PROGRAM AT THE METROPOLITAN OPERA

It is with great pleasure that I write to thank you for your wonderful lessons during my last year’s preparatory period before I was accepted into the Lindemann Young Artist Program here at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. Your expertise and knowledge of opera is immense, and I feel blessed to have had the privilege to get to know you and work with you. I feel that the work we did surely influenced the positive outcome of my LYADP audition process.

Lois Alba, my teacher in Houston, has long spoken of you and the wonderful private work you do with singers, of your many years at the Met and your fine piano playing. She herself treasures the time she shared with you, working closely on several projects a number of years ago.

My hope is to have you as my friend and mentor! I am certain that your advice will continue to bring me closer to my goals in the opera world.

Bass, KOMISCHE OPER, BERLIN

Jeffrey Goldberg is a hidden treasure that I found after having lived three years in New York City. Having constantly heard and worked closely with top level artists from his very early years, he possesses amazingly sharp ears which he uses to channel old school singing technique. This acute faculty has been placed at the disposal of his students, making it possible to solve the technical challenges that they are always wrestling with. As both coach and voice teacher he is the cream of the crop in today’s opera world. His technical understanding and the clarity of his suggestions, combined with his winning personality, produce immediate and amazing results.
